Anylain know of free QR code generator websites that allow QR customization like the one I made shown in the picture? I made this one with a non-free site that has a temporary redirect before taking you to https://lainchan.org but I'd like a 100% free QR gen that I can make lainQR's and print them off and leave random places.

if you do a search on github there are a ton of qr generators that you could probably edit a bit to get what you want. Or maybe just do a bit of digging and find one that suits your need. Basically all you'd need to do is be able to select the color for your squares and make the background transparent so you could put an image under the code.

Kind of surprised that this works so well.

Here you go: http://cgv.cs.nthu.edu.tw/Projects/Recreational_Graphics/Halftone_QRCodes/

You can even import gifs into them and they'll still be able to scan.

Can I make stickers with your image?

yeah that's pretty beautiful. How much would it cost you to remove that redirect or is that just not possible?

File: 1456290393443.png (174.76 KB, 200x185, 1445461259183.png)

Sure but it has a redirect, ere is the background image.
I'll give it a look over, thanks for the link!
Yeah I'm going to give it a go with Gimp

File: 1456311656224.png (70.62 KB, 200x199, hand-drawn-QR-code-papa-roux1.jpg)

Just draw it

File: 1456353132868-0.png (91.91 KB, 200x190, lainqr-darkest.png)

File: 1456353132868-1.png (177.59 KB, 200x190, lainqr-light.png)

File: 1456353132868-2.png (143.77 KB, 200x190, lainqr-green.png)

Not OP but i experimented with GIMP.
I think if i made the "eyes" on the corners more distinguishable i might need less contrast in the middle.

File: 1456355969713-1.png (45.4 KB, 200x190, lainqr-highcontrast.png)

Also in theory QR code should also work light on dark but it doesn't always work in practice.

All of these worked for me ^.^

File: 1456380576287.png (18.7 KB, 200x200, Unitag_QRCode_1456380396080.png)

Right now I'm using the free site https://www.unitag.io/qrcode to make some working QR codes, I'm going to Lainify this one now and try to get it to work.

File: 1456389231021.png (118.13 KB, 182x200, knights_of_the_eastern_calculus_by_bluefluke-d8wpo2o.jpg)

Someone make this a QR, I'm very lazy and cannot do it myself

File: 1456436362579-0.png (35.08 KB, 200x200, generate3.png)

File: 1456436362579-1.png (42.9 KB, 200x200, generate.png)

File: 1456436362579-2.png (36.4 KB, 200x200, generate2.png)

That site is pretty neat, even though it only lets you export so low resolution images.
I played a little bit with that and photoshop, but it's really hard to get something scanable and still good looking. Right now I hit neither.

File: 1456436387972.png (97.59 KB, 200x200, lainqr.png)

Actually these don't work at all, I think they atleast worked on the website, but not even with a neutral gray. Probably should try a different design, maybe back to the stars. It's really interestingly done in op, maybe I should just try to recreate that.

>generate.png and generate2.png work for me!

Don't just bump, contribute! Here is a template QR linking https://www.lainchan.org and one I made quickly in gimp.

Can you make that lain one at least 5x as big and in png please?

I can go 300x300 if I don't crop the QR I have. I didn't save the gimp project so I'll have to re-make the custom one. I like making these large enough for sticker sizes so I can sticker bomb things.

I can try, what colors do you want?

512x512 will work for a 3" ish sticker. Maybe Kalyx will take your design and print them on stickermule.

File: 1459372270867.png (572.14 KB, 200x200, qr-out.png)

gosh, it's tough to make these not look like poop. could somebody with a telephone tell me if this works?

Works well! Keep it up.

I'll generate a QR around that size and see what I can make out of it. I want to make a ton of LainQR and sticker bomb my city in the alley ways and parking garages.

File: 1459380051359.png (742.38 KB, 200x200, qr-out.png)

cool ^_^

here's the xcf and things (will disappear in a couple of days): https://shmibbles.me/tmp/qr.zip

File: 1459380181398.png (92.86 KB, 200x199, LainQRpng.png)

How is this? I had some issues with the color to QR detection ratio but this one validates properly.
> Also I can't attach the gimp project file... .xcf != unknown file type

File: 1459389505573.png (564.21 KB, 200x200, copland-qr.png)

that wasn't the same image, by the way; was updated.

here's another one!

File: 1459393225500.png (365.67 KB, 200x125, Screenshot.png)

Hey I really like that one, and it validates perfectly! I'm working on another right now. I like the design idea with lain backgrounds but I'm going to try something different with this one that may look cool once it's stuck on a wall somewhere.

File: 1459397831934-0.png (273.13 KB, 200x199, LainQRgreenFade.png)

File: 1459397831934-1.png (278.48 KB, 200x199, LainQRcolorMerge.png)

I made these two, I like how the image comes through the QR itself instead of being transparent through the background. Both validate.

File: 1460775472005.png (69.99 KB, 200x199, lainchan.png)

Tried one with a scanline effect.

Hey looks nice! I couldn't get this one to validate though. Can you post the background image? I can try to make a shade that validates if you want.

File: 1461064805817.png (48.51 KB, 200x126, 2.png)

Yeah, I had a little trouble trying to get anything to consitently validate. Here's the background image though.

it'd be a cool project to make a lot of these and make like a lainchan quilt of qr codes that lead to schway soykaf

acid tab sheet style

What other services do you think would be good to provide through subtle placements of QR codes in the wild? I'm considering turning a Pi-sized board into a server where I can host files and users can leave a message for me to put something up. It'd be a comfier piratebox, basically. Strategically placing QR codes that scan to its domain name would be a clever way of restricting access. Maybe change the name + IP every month and print a new set of QRs so people have to keep hunting and word of mouth could spread but not for too long.

right? I wonder if someone on /diy/ knows quilting

use them to distribute copies of the lainzine

put QR codes for secure messengers (like Signal) around

File: 1464275261725.png (85.83 KB, 200x200, laincode.png)

This is hard.

scans perfectly, nice job.

File: 1466948653213-0.png (157.92 KB, 200x200, final_1.png)

File: 1466948653213-1.png (147.87 KB, 193x200, final_2.png)

This is my best shot. They both scan but only if you seriously fuck with the focus for a while

File: 1466949971477.png (136.59 KB, 193x200, final_3.png)

Here's the code by the way. I just the generated overlay with underlay.png in gimp, no layer mask.

this picture I've had the most success with, in the sense that I don't have to fiddle with the focus as much and it will scan from a bit further away (maybe 2 feet from the screen)

How did you generate base.png?
Or did you do it by hand?
It's probably a stupid question.

I made it by hand from OP's picture
