No.2378

I thought it would be a nice idea to put together a history of lainchan for the wiki, but my memory is terrible.

It would be great if people could post details of events they remember, along with dates. I'll try to edit it all into a cohesive whole.

2014/04/20: lainchan begins.
2016/09/08: kalyx sells lainchan to appleman.

Somewhere in between those dates: various ddoses (including the nullchan/sinisterly shenanigans), lainchan moves between a bunch of different hosting providers, boards come and go, related projects (eg lainzine) are founded and take off...

4/20/2014 site created because i wanted to learn php and /g/ sucked ass.

sometime after, a fag named oni ddos'd us and we blackmailed him with help from volafile.io .

yuuko saved us from the time when linode was being cuntbags and null routed the server. RIP [7666]

sometime in early 2015 I ran ads all over /cyber/ and cleaned them out. Mono e lain is a bro.

4/20 2015 the golden age of lainchan, mumble parties every day, cross posting with volafile, littlewargame.com and all sorts of shenanegans.

later on some fag named akitaro who runs some dead cyberpunk wiki found a fake video of me masturbating. He also loves Tox.

september 2016 i sold lainchan because i am a depressed lonely mentally unstable broke as fuck cunt.

names to remember; Cloudflare, Petsu, Jade Stern, Darkengine, Yuuko, Anonymous..

I'd like more details on this please. I used SInisterly quite a bit was never around for this drama. I've seen it talked about /g/ quite a bit, and i love internet history like this.

Basically;
What caused Oni to DDOS lainchan?
How was he blackmailed?

  No.3682

>>3680
A general sense of rivalry I think. He was running nullchan at the time.

He wasn't exactly blackmailed. They just rang him up and were like "what are you doing?" and he was like "I'm sorry I'll stop." There's a recording of the conversation floating around somewhere.

petsu's podcast is really good (early) history of lainchan, but I don't think she made it public (she sent a private youtube link to a couple of people) and I'm not gonna distribute it since she probably doesn't want that and since she said she left lainchan

New site owner Appleman finally loses his soykaf trying to deal with an influx of soykafty new users, cp bots and propaganda disinformation teams. Hides all the boards in a gatekeeping effort to raise the bar of entry into Lainchan.

some time later that day - boards are made visible again as a result of community outrage displayed during discussions on irc and /q/ (with members who knew how to access these services during the time). Also, that crazy Kalyx comes out of hiding and starts posting again.
