Videodrome is pretty /cyb/

  No.4929

How exactly is your compilation going to work? Anyway, if you just want us to dump here's a list I think feels appropriate:

Akira
Tetsuo the Iron Man
964 Pinocchio
Rubber's Lover
Burst City
Scanners
Videodrome
Jubilee
Beyond the Black Rainbow
The Red Spectacles
Stray Dog: Kerberos Panzer Cop
Ghost in the Shell
Ghost in the Shell 2
Altered States
Death Powder
They Live
Hardware
THX1138
LOVE & POP (maybe, anybody else want to weigh in here? I love the movie but don't quite know if it fits.)

And no I didn't forget Blade Runner, I don't think it really fits in here as odd as that might sound. And if we're allowed to stretch the definition of 'movies' a little I'd like to include Genocyber. Koichi Ohata is a very underrated director/designer.

  No.4934

The Impostor
1984
Dark City
Brazil
Metropolis
Stalker
Ghost in the Shell
Ghost in the Shell: Innocence
Videodrome
When the Wind Blows
THX-1138

Besides, we should really have charts for books, movies, anime and games, I've seen some for cyberpunk, but far as I'm aware, none of them were produced here in lainchan, do we have any?

  No.4939

Strange Days
Pi
Run Lola Run
Hardware
Killing Zoe

  No.4941

Sneakers (it's better than Hackers. Screw you)
War Games

Finally, the H2G2 film isn't mandatory. However, the books/miniseries/radio play definitely are. But those are for another list.

  No.4942

The Running Man
Total Recall
Fahrenheit 451
Battle Royal

Cloud Atlas haves thta storyline set in a cyberpunk future, which is of course my favorite part in the movie.

World on a Wire (1973, german)

Surprised nobody mentioned it yet, it is one of the pioneering movies that deals with philosophy of reality and simulation. It has very strong visuals too.

World on a Wire is really interesting. Its one of those things like The Prisoner or The Twilight Zone where its so old and so influential to all the things you grew up on that you can smell the plot twists 30 minutes before they happen but the weird cinematography is enough to keep you capitivated.

It was a 2-parter made for TV, hence why its so long. Another W.German TV movie from that era is Das Millionenspiel, which has a guy on a reality TV show running from hitmen. If he lives he wins a million marks but he'd be the first to do so. Its another idea which has been recycled in pop SF a number of times.
