bring back /cyb/ pls
and /r/

  No.12123

/r/ is back.

/cyb/ may come back, once Lainons decide what /cyb/ is or should be and what the accepted Lainon definition of cyberpunk actually is.

If you want a practise exercise in determining if stuff is /cyb/ or not start with https://lainchan.org/music.txt and identify all the stuff that is /cyb/ and all the stuff that isn't /cyb/, once enough lainons agree and provide their reasoning, I will reconsider bringing back /cyb/, but until then the entire site is cyb.

Well I'll start with a suggestion. maybe neo-/cyb/ done right could be a board for cyberpunk related topics that don't fit neatly into the other boards. Like a cyberpunk general or cyberpunk miscellaneous of sorts. /cult/ serves as a type of catch all board right now, so perhaps we should discuss what doesn't fit on a board like that and see what does on /cyb/ 2.0 through the process of elimination.

This.

For example, this thread on nighttime city-scapes doesn't really fit into /cult/ and fits into /cyb/

A "neo-/cyb/" that fits "topics that don't really fit into other boards" would be a board dedicated to direct action--much akin to the fabled /i/ of yore. I don't think even the mods would want that given their political differences. The distinguishing factors between /sec/ and /cult/ are plain as day; there is very little to be found past discussing semiotics.

What? No. By that logic we ought to bring /w/ back because of the lone cute anime girls thread; https://lainchan.org/cult/res/1190.html

A community's obsession with certain aesthetics does not necessitate an entirely new board. The whole argument for bringing back /cyb/ can be summarized with this post:

>"cuase cyberboards are awesome"

>https://lainchan.org/r/res/27896.html#27906

Still have no idea why /r/ is back; it's a useless gesture, and not even cleaned up from when they moved the threads over to /cult/.

/sci, /lamb, /tech -> /cyb irl

/lit -> all books. not necessarily /cyb but does not repel /cyb literature

/cult, /civ -> not necessarily /cyb but has undeniable theme of /cyb

wot

That was just an example of what kind of thread might go into /cyb/, not the exclusive content of /cyb/.

if we can't roleplay being in a cyberpunk dystopia and us being a gropu of ragtag hackers bent on starting a cyber revolution then what's the point?

EXACTLY

SHUT IT DOWN

REMOVE MODS

  No.12319

could /cyb/ work as a sort of "promoted" board, where you are unable to start a new topic but can still post?

threads that are especially cyberpunk from the other boards would be moved by mods if enough people deemed them worthy (sort of a reverse report feature but only for the 1st post in a thread)

  No.12354

>>12319
That seems like a good idea, but you'd have to ask the mods: it would be putting a lot on their shoulders, and they likely know collective user opinion better than I do, and would know about any problems this would result in.

/avo/ a board dedicated entirely to that most wonderful tree and it's fruit, the Avocado. with an appropriate board theme of course.

I wholeheartedly agree.

Don't get why this was removed, it was the most interesting board.

  No.12384

>>12383
That's part of the reason.

It was one of the more generic boards and was cannibalizing the others.

so people were posting in /cyb/ things that belongd in cult

You don't have to have an authoritative definition of what cyberpunk is to have a cyberpunk board. That being said I'm not sure if it should come back or not. It seems like it was used as a catchall board that contained posts that were better suited for /w/, /tech/, or /r/ anyways.
