Pardon me if this topic doesn't belong here.

Lately I have been making online purchases via check as an alternative to CC. I'm wondering if this is a good idea to do or if I should just use my CC for everything. I just worry about another site having my card details and selling that to a third-party or the seller being malicious or underhanded.

Should I just not worry about it?

Yes this topic doesn't belong here. Making purchases with check or cheque isn't really one thing, it is echeck and there are online stores that allow paying with actual cheques (scanned or otherwise) for online shopping.

If you are worried about your places having your details, then your best option is to buy prepaid online shopping cards with cash, and just use them when you would use a credit card.
