No.13184

Hello lainons, I just managed to get a cool IPv6 link at home with better performance, but when I tried to load Lainchan, I found it was still laggy. I did a nslookup and found Lainchan doesn't support IPv6 at all.

IPv6 is not only the future of the Internet, but also the universal network protocol and workhorse of Wired network where Lain lives.

It is unbelievable that a website with themes of cyberpunk and Lain doesn't even support IPv6. I urge to add IPv6 for Lainchan.

The main reason that lainchan is laggy (loadtimes of more than 1 second) isn't due to lack of IPV6, it is mostly due to hightlight.pack.js (required for code tag syntax being 450kb and blocking other the javascript that gets loaded.

I have added an AAAA record for lainchan.org, but our current DNS provider is not using IPV6 nameservers yet.

I continue investigating alternative solutions in order to have IPV6 name servers.

No, I didn't mean the lack of IPv6 in general causes a laggy website, I just described how did I discover it particularly.

Thanks for adding the AAAA record, now it loads from my new connection. The IPv6 route of my ISP is shorter, the RTT of lainchan.org goes down by 100ms :)

Ha, very nice and thank you! I agree that it seems quite fitting that this cyberpunk imageboard would use the latest Wired protocols.

V6 nameserver is a secondary concern
