Planes are cool, but from what I've read they're just to damn expensive. Cheapest rental where I live for any plane is about $100/hour and even a damn simulator costs $60/hour (instructor fees not included). Looking at an online cost of ownership calculator and going with the cheapest option they list (a Cessna 152) gets a bit cheaper at $90/hour with 100 flight hours per year, but that's $9,000 per year.

Does anyone here mess around in flight simulators at all? I just picked up a joystick and spent my night messing around in FlightGear after not messing around in a flight simulator for at least 5 years.
