So I have a huge list of weeb soykaf thanks to you guys.
Now we need to cut it down to a more reasonable size and remove all the soykaf from it.

Since it's so long I've decided we will go a section or two at a time; so for now we will focus on the anime.

There's about 88 entries in the list, we should probably cut it down to 45 or less, especially considering that some of these entries count as multiple anime series.
So basically:

Tl;Dr: Submit corrections and what you think should be removed (and why).
We can argue if said thing should actually be removed.

File: 1428906294755.png (39.87 KB, 171x200, guu.jpg)

How about you sort that thing first? Like, introduce some categories (genres, animation styles, date of airing etc.)? What’s the purpose of a list consisting of 88 (or 45) titles? You don’t expect anybody to just start watching from the top? Because that would be plainly wrong.

While I agree that should be done, I'm not convinced it's necessary right now when we're still deciding on whether or not these things should even remain in the recommendation list.

File: 1428918348901.png (44.91 KB, 152x200, 142cf47b15a86f32d6795a297ecb6273.jpg)

> I'm not convinced it's necessary right now when we're still deciding on whether or not these things should even remain in the recommendation list.
And on what criteria one decides whether or not it should remain?
That’s where opinions differ © Einstürzende Neubauten
> my obinion >>> your obinion :D :D :D :—-D

Shouldn't it be Cyberpunk only? Because Elfenlied and Nichijou aren't

File: 1428930519663.png (2.76 MB, 135x200, 132805891655.jpg)

why are you making this from scratch? just edit an existing one. there's only a hundred of them already.

How did you make this list. It looks quite different from the other threads submissions. I thought you were going to add all of them first then reduce it. Did you just take the ones recommended twice or more?

You could at least separate the anime from the manga. Biomega has no anime adaptation.

File: 1428968438472.png (43.56 KB, 181x200, 1401679868545.jpg)

This list is only the anime that was suggested

Ah, my mistake

>Shouldn't it be Cyberpunk only?
Well that's not what it was intended to be, the list is meant to be representative of what /w/ thinks is Japanese media worth consuming; but if you guys think it really should be /cyb/ only then I don't see why I can't change it.

See above

Partly addressed above.
This is hard the hard part of making a rec list, it's easy to get submissions but figuring out how to shrink the list is difficult.
Public debate is all I have in the way of ideas at the moment, if you have a better suggestion feel free to voice it.

File: 1428991898588.png (607.34 KB, 200x200, 1392442422506.gif)

But why are there films like Memories, Paprika, Dead Leaves, Mind Game, Tekkonkinkreet, Steamboy and Appleseed on the list but films suggested with equally great series of the same name like Berserk, Madoka, Time of Eve, which probably should be on the list as series anyway left out?
(I'm sad because I suggested some of those thinking people would like them ;_; )

File: 1428992942662.png (70.19 KB, 200x113, ringo_chan_rain.jpg)

Also, I avoided posting series thinking that everyone would have so many that it would be best to share other types of media. If you want what /w/ thinks and not just cyb I'm legitimately surprised Mawaru Penguindrum wasn't suggested. How did that even happen. Is it because everyone has already seen it?

File: 1429001484468.png (46.17 KB, 200x150, 1245535087758.jpg)

> if you have a better suggestion feel free to voice it.
By my humble opinion creators of such lists must have around 400–500 finished animu in the list and my MAL is *slightly shorter.*
If I were to make such a thing I’d consider to create an IRC channel and invite there 300-400-500-kuns to help me out. (that would be fun to make them calling themselves in accordance with the number of series they’ve finished, like 7-suke, 24-chan, 505-kun or 9000-dono). A review of older lists would take place somewhere around here. Then we’d decide in which way we’re going to create the new one — maybe somebody comes up with something innovative, like ‘a perspective on moesoikafu through decades’ or so. I’d put on such a subject as ‘does it have a point to separate those series/films/manga that would comprise an entry-level block?’ and to pick for it one animu per each genre/category. In case of difference in opinions there should be a vote by those who’s watched all candidates. But this means that all MALs shall be collected beforehand, mendokuse na~…

Eve no Jikan is missing. This is essential.

Black Rock Shooter has good visuals but a really bad plot that feels like an excuse for the animators to do whatever they like. I would remove it.

Mononoke was good, but was it *that* good? Yes the visuals were new, refreshing and nice to look at but I felt like the plot was a bit repetitive. I would give it some thought.

Genshiken was a funny and weeb catering anime but it was not 8/10 or above and I don't feel like we should go below that. I would remove it, but I'm not much of a comedy fan.

Psycho-Pass was a good all-rounder but nothing exceptional about it either. I would give it some more thought.

Out of the four you critisized I'd agree with Black Rock Shooter, Genshiken (even though I liked it) and Psycho Pass not fitting but I'd definitely opt for Mononoke to stay on this list. Anime is a medium which connects the storytelling with audio/visuals and many fail to do just that. Even very well renowned anime like LOGH might be great stories but they aren't great animations, the visual aspect seems just like an addition not a necessary part to the whole. Mononoke to me exploits the medium to its fullest. The whole style befits the period in which most of the series is set. The choreography is also inspired by both the Kabuki and Noh tradition which gives the whole series a very theatrical feel. The way the characters sit, stand and talk. Even the "fights" seem more like dancing you'd encounter in one of those theatres. You say the story is repetitive but then I don't see how that's bad if there's enough variation. There are shows which are repetitive yet they utilize this and use it as their strength like Utena, Princess Tutu, Aria, Mushishi. It also makes great use of the stories to represent themes like repressed emotions, conforming to society's norms, exploiting power and so on. Overall I'd say it's both a great story, but more important a great anime.

Anyways, I'd also definitely add Eve no Jikan to the list.
I agree, Penguindrum should be added.
Again agreed: Madoka, Time of Eve and Berserk are great shows.

I still don't exactly see how this list is supposed to be different than any other random recommendation list.

Anything on that list that's a film is in there because I thought it was an anime series.

I apologise for my sloppy list curating.

Well then as creator I'm under qualified, and damn that sounds like an involved process.

I believe Eve no Jikan is in the movies section.

This just happens to be /w/'s own random rec list (and it will cover more than just anime/manga)

File: 1429102589975.png (76.22 KB, 200x113, 1427066878642-1.jpg)

pls add Penguindrum, there is no movie of it, so it will miss out completely.

Penguindrum is one of two series I have ever dropped. I hope it gets better towards the end.

It was awesome to begin with, so it must be you.

Ok, so I'll post the anime that I think don't deserve to be on this list, most of the shows are rather good but these though aren't bad necessarily just pale in comparison: yuri yuri, steins gate, steamboy, sidonia no kishi, shirobako, silent mobius, ruroni kenshin, psycho pass, paprika (all the other kon films are better and if anything should be on this list), nanoha, memories, little witch academia, higurashi, blood the last vampire, black rock shooter

I have not watched a lot of slice of life / comedy but yuri yuri was really good imo.
It was really easy going and a joy to watch.
I liked paprika a lot as well but I guess I need to see more of what kon made.
I agree with the rest of what you said except maybe higurashi.

File: 1429288789170.png (118.39 KB, 200x113, [AniDub]_MM_04_[RUS_JAP]_[1280x720_h264]_[Ancord].-21.jpg)

> I have not watched a lot of slice of life / comedy but yuri yuri was really good imo.
You probably like lucky star, too, eh?

what if we set off a tournament type deal to see which should be on the official lists? most we vote to see which stays

.hack//SIGN, Shinsekai Yori, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Hyouka, and Revolutionary Girl Utena should be on this list.

Animu is pretty hard when it comes to that kind of thing.

I guess that if we really need lainchan recommendation we should strive for real pearls.

OP, IMHO you should get rid of all that soykaf and stay with
and start adding then. Maybe NGE, maybe something from Makoto Shinkai for the graphics kicks. Maybe Jin-Roh which dissapointed me so much but still possess lainchan-like feeling.

It's not 4chan. We should make our own REAL list with Iwakura Lain on the top.

just adding something
Perfect Blue should be on the list for sure, for how it shows depersonalisation and great problems of existence in the web

I think these should go:

It was fun and all but not worth the list.

>Isshuukan Friends

Why is this here? Average at best it was only pulled forward by the good character design and art definitely needs to go. The concept was kind of dumb and it got boring.

>Little Witch Academia

One 30 min movie that was a anime version of harry potter it should go although it was pretty good. Death Billiards was better anyway.

I personally dislike it and would not put it on the list but I know many people would disagree.

I might look into more detail tomorrow to pick the ones that are harder to judge top 3 definitely have to go. Haven't seen some which is surprising will finish them all by next year. Sadly this thread will probably still be up.

Shut up glitterboy. Yuru Yuri is amazing I don't understand how you can't like it. fuarrrking normies go watch Naruto or somin. Although it's one of the best all female cast shows I think it might need to be cut from the list

>Puella Magi Madoka Magica

This should be on the list.

>Yuru Yuri

I think it should be swapped for Plastic Nee-san.

I am definitely for keeping Yuru yuri…I mean it's basically a Yuri entrance drug.
Though Madoka must be on the list.

>Hm, I want to watch something that starts with the letter R.

You're right. Putting a rec list in alphabetical order doesn't really make sense.

Things that should be cut:
Elfen Lied. I absolutely hate the word overrated but this series has to be the most perfect example of it.

Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou. That's not even an anime yet.

Shirobako. I feel that Shirobako is the kind of show you're supposed to watch when you're already very invested into anime to get the maximum enjoyment of, so it's kind of a subjective recommendation and less of a general one.

Things that should be added:
Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica. A darker take on the magical girl genre. It looks and sounds amazing and the story is tight to boot.

Ping Pong the Animation. A sports show that's really about the characters and less the sport. Amazing characters combined with great music with a very distinctive art style that makes the anime feel like a moving comic book.

File: 1432060757680.png (182.72 KB, 186x200, 1431240538953-1.png)

This guy gets it.

No Haibane Renmei?

this seems like a good idea.

is >>3150 still here? will you be updating the list at all or should another lainon take over?

OP seems to be dead.

I've made a new pastebin and have made some changes.

>Eve no Jikan

>Black Rock Shooter
>Elfen Lied
>Hellsing Ultimate
>Little Witch Academia
>Isshuukan Friends
>Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou
>Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun
>Aoi Bungaku

I have only cut a few I was going to cut 20 more but I want to know in which direction this list is going. Are we making a specific lainchan related anime or just anime that newfags should watch. I personally prefer the first one but not just /cyb/ anime but also a mixture of genres and not completely entry level stuff like Death Note.

The ones I have cut so far are either because they are to short, do not exist or are a terrible adaption or just do not fit in the list I really like a few I've cut so I kind of want to leave them but I don't think we should have more than 40 series.

I think it would also be smart to remove movies and make a separate list for them leaving this one anime only.

I will make further changes once I get the approval of a few lainons. I check this thread multiple times a day so if everybody posts often even with little suggestions. We should be able to complete this list in a few weeks.

I will also make a chart once we have finished.

I forgot to add Haibane Renmei and I changed Higurashi to Franchise not just Kai.

Are these all lurking lainons or do randoms read new pastebins.

I think you should have it lainchan related not just for newlains to watch. Also I dont think you should have it only cyb animes but a mixture of some trippy psychological ones for /drg/ some /cyb/ ones and some about /tech/ (like steins gate) and have them separated into sections.

I don't think there are enough series that could be /drg/ related and I can only think of Aoi Bungaku for /lit/.

Although I do think there is no point of including stuff like Cowboy Bebop or Death Note for newlains. Nice term

I think this would should be a basic list of /w/ essentials not just good anime.

is this rec list not being worked on anymore?

File: 1434557389603.png (48.02 KB, 200x200, plz.jpg)

I think the mod died I'm working on it but nobody seems to be replying. I'm not just going to finish the whole list on my own.

File: 1435137831485.png (192.94 KB, 200x70, 8eecbf48666b75ad1ac00afe66426386.png)

>On a website with DDT dev
>No Rozen Maiden

I seriously hope you don't do this!

I even know where to get it easily if anyone wants links

Things that should be cut:
>Aku no Hana
>Death Note
>Elfen Lied
>Fate/ Series (leave only Zero)
>Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun
>Isshuukan Friends
>Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo
I haven't seen them all but I guess there are others that are not that worthy too.

Things that should definetly be added instead:
>Princess Tutu
>Shinsekai Yori
>Jinrui wa Suitai Shimasoykafa

Other shows to consider adding:
>Houkago no Pleiades
>Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru
>Uchuu Kyoudai
>Selector Infected WIXOSS (only 1st season)
>Uchouten Kazoku

Now, regarding movies
must add:
>Suzumiya Haruhi no Shousoykafsu
>Mononoke Hime
>Tamako Love Story
>The End of Evangelion (even better Evangelion should be specified as the whole francise)

to consider:
>Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo
>Eve no Jikan
>Sakasama no Patema
>Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki
>Majo no Takkyuubin

File: 1436227112257.png (357.22 KB, 200x200, 1426276.jpg)

>Still doesn't have Rozen Maiden

Seriously, its actually really good, add it man, plus its got the relation to lainchan (and all chans for that matter)

File: 1436231880232.png (111.42 KB, 118x200, [C1]I''S_Pure_-_02[XviD][DF75E087]_0019.png)

I don’t think it will be done whenever. Also RM is popular because it was forced on 4kank. There’s nothing astounding about this show, stop the hype.

Rozen Maiden has a great first season.
Jun and Shinku are really great characters.

File: 1442687558317.png (87.3 KB, 200x113, 1363509316.jpg)

Nobody mentioned Boogiepop Phantom yet?

File: 1443125153973.png (61.58 KB, 200x150, lain.png)

Instead of a general rec list, the list should only include those anime that are required viewing before posting Lainchan.

Maybe not required viewing so much as shows that are generally philosophical or /cyb/. You can find general rec lists anywhere so I think the lainchan one should be more focused.

Nobody should be allowed to post until they've at least watched Lain. After that there should be a list of anime you need to have watched at least one of in addition to Lain. Then there should be tiers for shows which are not required but increase your power level

File: 1443326013071.png (97.8 KB, 200x113, 1404076046869.jpg)

>no Haruhi

list is shit

File: 1443397708612.png (9.17 KB, 148x200, 146.jpg)

every third anime is about that one and only super-magical awesome moe girl that is absolutely the universe #1 best girl ever and if she's not in the whitest spotlight somewhere that "makes" the place soykaf .

i'm not criticizing your choice, just pointing out how generic haruhi, and every other generic figure-economy character is.

>pic for giggles.

Haruhi is really worth only for the movie.

>evangelion movies
this is a joke, right?
those movies are garbage.

add these:
>Jin Roh
>Non Non Biyori

remove these:
>death note
>spice and wolf

>MG Geist
>Cybernetics Guardian

It's already perfect.

If this does end up a general rec list, add Angel Beats!
if it goes /cyb/ only, skip it.

File: 1444867885247.png (701.8 KB, 200x150, tumblr_inline_nj0d0lf1il1qzozj1.gif)

Baccano! definitely. I'll give a nod to Rolling Girls, Haruhi, and Madoka.

Gonna say No to K-On!, and WIXOSS, and disagree with taking deathnote off. It's good, being popular doesn't make it not good.

I second boogiepop.
Def needs more Haruhi, but I'm a fanboy.

Add Log Horizon, the little kid filler episodes are kinda shit, but it's a good anime.

Gonna have to disagree with removing Spice and Wolf.

Maybe add Upotte! It's not good really, but it's hella fun. Other than that Magical Shopping arcade abenobashi, Cencoroll, Darker Than Black(Maybe, the first seasons is pretty good), and Princess Jellyfish.

>No Haibane Renmei

needs more josei.

if nothing else, where the hell is honey and clover

File: 1450632012561.png (106.54 KB, 200x113, Hyouka - 15.00:04:45.285.jpg)

This thread is futile unless you figure out the purpose(s) of the list.

File: 1451950869667.png (36.53 KB, 186x200, 8b5a518f9310536d19b17bd6e3ee3b69_480.jpg)

File: 1452064506396.png (328.74 KB, 200x150, [HorribleSubs] Ninja Slayer - 23 [1080p].mkv_snapshot_05.10_[2015.09.17_21.13.48].jpg)

Ninja Slayer seems pretty lainchan.

Classifying anything other than MD Geist as anime only devalues the term.

I second this

Is there a 2deep4u recommended animu list? I love that soykaf .

While I don't have a list, I can recommend some. I'll make a post after classes today
I'd also like to work on a fork of the pastebin >>3457, adding genres, length, etc. By all means I am no expert but at least I can try

Well the obvious choice is NGE.
After that, Mawaru Penguindrum and Kaiba are pretty #deep. Also Tatami Galaxy to some extent.

i guess i didn't
ill work on it through the week but wont make any promises
sageing because dont want to bump without content

File: 1456534317936.png (1005.66 KB, 114x200, 20th century anime.jpg)

My brother helped make this one. That's so surreal seeing it reposted.

Desert Punk is really good.

Old 90's weeaboo here. Gonna post my required viewing list.

Dirty Pair (80's series)
Princess Mononoke
Black Lagoon
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
Riding Bean
Spirited Away
Fist Of The North Star (movie only)
My Neighbor Totoro
Neon Genesis Evangelion (the original, then form your own opinion on the remakes)
Howl's Moving Castle
Tank Police
Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro
Project A-Ko
Wings of Honneamise
Cowboy Bebop
Ghost In The Shell (the original)
Golgo 13: The Professional
Urotsukodoji: Legend of The Overfiend
Wicked City
Ninja Scroll (only the movie)
Sword Of The Stranger
Perfect Blue
Space Adventure Cobra
Goku: Midnight Eye part 1
Azumanga Daioh

File: 1462303735563.png (426.61 KB, 200x150, C-ko.png)

>Project A-Ko

Please don't.
The adventures of Superman and Wonderwoman's anime daughter is an excellent premise but the characters are insufferable.

Remove the ironic ones(xD it's bad so it's funny to put in a rec list lmao) I.E. MD Geist

Bartender, while great in concept really has nothing going for it in the final product

I agree. I recommend removing Bartender from the "to watch" list and into a "to read" list.

The anime strayed from the manga in a bad way.

Just throwing out an idea for a structure here.
How about splitting it into must watch cyb gems, average cyb, must watch generic anime (with some notes on shows with cyb relevancy), above average generic, and guilty pleasures of most of the users.

Something like:

Must watch cyb:
Serial Experiments Lain
Eve no shitkan

Average cyb:
Psycho Pass

Must watch anime:
Haruhi (Philosophy as deep as you're willing to dig, cult classic)
Dokes (sailor moon finally getting what she deserves: a crazy lesbian stalker willing to make the entire world suffer endlessly for her crush)

Above average generic:
Battle prpgrammer shortwave (computers and cladsic nerd cultute)
Welcome to the NHL (welcome to your life, but with more cute girls)
Katanagatari (Lets you justify skipping the monogataries)

Guilty pleasures:
Yuri Yuri
Azumanga Daioh

Be sure to add Ghost in the Shell there, both movies are great in both philosophical and cyberpunk aspects, for the series, just put in SAC and 2nd Gig, I'm yet to watch Solid State Society.

Haruhi has been sitting on my watchlist for a while, guess it's time to finally watch it.

Well, there I thought "The Big O" would be something sexy. I was disappointed.

File: 1469108158691.png (63.64 KB, 200x151, dLouse.jpg)

You're a louse.

File: 1469566340796.png (1.91 MB, 200x112, lutikat.webm)

Thanks for this. Can you guys recommend more anime that takes itself seriously and isn't targeted towards teenage boys? Stuff like Monster, SEL and GITS?

Hey, OP, a little question; was their a particular reason why Rurouni Kenshin was put onto the list?

As a major fan of the series, I wanted to know. Is it nostalgia? I know part of my love for the series is for that reason. Or maybe it's because of how strangely subversive it is? Or how it deals with different types of ideals and how they conflict with each other?

I know I could easily talk all day about this series.

Moved to >>>/cult/141.
