What anime made you cry the most, lainons? Pic related for me.

Angel Beats, Welcome to the NHK

File: 1435308971457.png (56.75 KB, 75x200, 1226091796660.jpg)

5 Centimeters Per Second, Welcome to the NHK, Great Teacher Onizuka (Onizuka reminded of a friend I used to have.) Steins;Gate and Cat Soup for some odd reason.

Clannad, of course. I still feel sad when I listen to the OP.

Angel Beats was the first anime that made me cry. I also cried when I watched K-On and it bothered me in the manga how they left Azusa behind

I am yet to have anything make me cry, mostly because I am a grizzled veteran of the Somme. but the show that got the closest was Les Mis the movie, a close second was Angel Beats.

That last scene, you know the one, it killed me.

After some time I realized that there was a huge plot hole in AB that I didn't see before. How come Kanade got her heart after Yuzuru died when she was in the school before him, still though p good anime and the OP is amazing.

I think its well worth watching.

I figure when you are dealing with an alternate dimension with crazy sonic swords and super bullets and all this stuff then you can over look the time gap of a few years. Especially when the age of the universe makes a few years look like the most insignificant, tiny, unnoticeable event in history. Just a burp in time would flip the time line like crazy for a few years but on the large scale it would be nothing

Damn, I never looked at it like that

Gunbuster made me cry like a little bitch.

File: 1435533516792.png (28.98 KB, 172x200, serveimage.jpg)

Clannad ~After Story.

Left me emotionally devastated for weeks. It's just so brutal on so many levels.

>yeah.. let's go for a trip..

I just watched 5 Centimeters Per Second, I didn't think it was a sad as everyone says it is. I feel like you'd have to have a similar experience to be really affected by it.

Cross Channel (vns count, right?), there is something really lonely about being trapped in a world which resets every week with no living organisms except 7 other mentally ill high schoolers.

And then you manage to send them back into normal world and get stuck here all by yourself, repeating that week again and again.

I got used to dobrochan's markup and screwed up the spoiler, sorry.

I cry at so many anime I can't even think of what one made me cry the most. Of things I've seen within the past few weeks Houkago no Pleiades takes the cake and it wasn't even sad.

That made tears flood my face too. Especially that ending, damn.

File: 1435653127249.png (214.38 KB, 200x152, 1435047763317.png)

Welcome to the NHK, absolutely no question.

>Crying because of K-On

That said, I totally cried watching The Flower We Saw That Day.

the ending is depressing as hell

Angel Beats hands down.
But Welcome to the N.H.K. broke me emotionally. Felt empty for a month after watching it.

5cm per second has some really heartbreaking moments. I don't think I've cried in any anime though, I'm not that attached.

Haibane Renmei did it for me.

I think Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo really sad.
The Aoi Bungaku (No Longer Human) is the most depressive anime I watched.
But also: Darken than Black, Elfen Lied, Neon Genesis Evangelion (this one is so profound that make me sick every time), Steins Gate, Fullmetal Alchemist, Angel Beats, Natsume Yuujinchou (not that sad, but is melancholic), Kotonoha no Niwa.

Clannad AS here, too. Jun Maeda is a fuarrrking genius and Kyoani really knew what they did.

File: 1438713744545.png (91.03 KB, 160x200, 1437767709001.jpg)

Like when Yui realizes, the fun time will end five episodes prior to the finale and speaks it out. Yeah, I can understand that.

Somehow I have to cry a lot over anime.
But it exist a difference from happy and sad there, I had to cry by really heartworming and cute things, just cause the moved me so much.
When it comes to the anime witch was the saddest/most depressing: Saikano.
I cried like a litte baby, several times. During watching it, I was a emotional wreck, it destroyed me completly.

I know this is considered the ultimate hipster anime, but I cried for the lord conti/ firestarter episode of Fooly Kooly/furi kuri/flcl. I felt like I related allot to Mamimi.

Any moe slice of life because reminders me how I have no friends and wasted my youth.

berserk manga

File: 1439247561033.png (80.13 KB, 200x168, 723452345.jpg)

Firestarter is definitely one of the best episodes in FLCL.

Anime, maybe clannad, the train scene was the only thing that genuinely got me and Grave of the Fireflies, after my first watch, when I watched it again sometime later, when the train guard throws away the sweet tin and Setsuko comes out, that had me in tears.

As for manga, YKK, though it's not tears of sadness, the manga at some points just hits me with such intense feelings of nostalgia and other emotions that I end up tearing up even if it's not sad.

The only thing that makes me sad is my life. And human cruelty. Even Clannad can't compare.

That was retarded.

The only good scene was when Tomoya remembered Nagisa while on the train with Ushio, Ushio's death was forced and not sad at all.

This is song is amazing.

Anohana was really bad, the only sad part was the ED.

Angel Beats was too rushed for it to be sad at the end. The only sad part was when they donated the organs before dying while trapped inside the tunnel.

I just watched Grave of the Fireflies tonight, soykaf nearly had me crying.

It seems to deliver a message that old pictures of ruined Japanese cities can't.

File: 1440746082511.png (440.22 KB, 137x200, Makabe.Kazuki.full.1515659.jpg)

Fafner. Because I teared up at almost every episode.

>No Longer Human
You should read the book as well.

File: 1440804171280.png (924.7 KB, 200x113, dolphins.png)

Sora no Woto..

ive heard this a lot and I refuse to watch the last two episodes. I will never finsish that anime.

Your lie in April ruined me for a month afterward. I still feel like I lost a friend to this day.

File: 1440986652394.png (88.82 KB, 167x200, Screen Shot 2015-08-29 at 11.59.52 PM.png)

Clannad:AS, Kanon 06, and Air

Watching someone turn into a vegetable makes me so sad for whatever reason, hope I never have to deal with it irl

one piece

You speak true words. Everyone in this thread is a wuss.

Ikr. I think most people just start some anime like Clannad and AnoHana expecting to cry and then they try their best to do it, because otherwise I couldn't understand how could they be moved by such shallow writings.

mushishi cause once it ends you will be depressed

Not an animu but the visual novel of Grisaia no Kajitsu, Amane's route had me crying like my mother had died at the end.

just finished watching this myself, i want to curl up into a ball and cry now ;-;

Clannad and Clannad AS

Fucking brutal

That scene in bakemonogatari where tsundere brings Araragi into the forest. I haven't cried like that in a long time.

Damn it's kind of creepy to read that, I just finished downloading the last episode and was considering never watching it because i dont think i can deal with it ending

File: 1442434754904.png (225.43 KB, 200x113, kaiji.jpg)

Kaiji made me cry a lot.

I cried too, only out of boredom though. I've never seen such an annoyingly stretched out anime in my life.

File: 1442527386753.png (169.05 KB, 200x200, SHAFT 1 Monogatari Madoka.jpg)

I watched the first episode of AnoHana when it was airing without reading the synopsis.
When the OP played and I realized she was dead from the context clues I kinda broke down.
But I was pretty messed up at that point in time.

The scene in NHK at the oceanside when he's with the suicide meetup and debating jumping over really nailed me too.

And the most excellent ED begins to play and it all fits together?
Yeah that moment was pretty solid.

File: 1443042288274.png (13.94 KB, 200x113, 7qzVQ2p.jpg)

Death Parade. The seiyuus of the protagonists are really good. My girlfriend and I were devastated.

You don't know what sad anime is until you've watched Tokyo Magnitude 8.0.

File: 1444451787982.png (614.02 KB, 200x113, tmp_24567-Ohana-323219701.png)

Hanasaku Iroha did it for me. Slightly more so than Steins;Gate, Soro no Woto, and Suisei no Gargantia.

I almost felt bad that I didn't cry at the ending of Angel Beats.

If vns count then there are a few that get me a little teary but in a single manly tear way. Bitch tears, on the other hand, were only caused by Kira Kira. Cried myself to sleep that night. Not sure why that one hit so hard perhaps the simple unfairness of the situation.

I consider Grave of the Fireflies to be amazing, but it's never really brought me to tears.
However, anything about lost love just breaks me. I cried both times that I watched 5 Centimetres Per Second.
If manga counts; the work that absolutely fuarrrked me up the most was Oyasumi Punpun, a character I can closely relate to with a tragic love story is a deadly combination.

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 is very forgettable and the twist sad ending isn't that sad.

File: 1445115472703.png (220.19 KB, 200x110, GurrenLagann.jpg)

The end of Angel Beats is really sad, thank you for remind.
Also I was crying every episode since 8 watching Gurren Lagann.

File: 1445401946549.png (41.75 KB, 170x200, 3.2 page 1.jpg)

Came to post this, that movie is sad as fugg

File: 1445737470321.png (748.64 KB, 187x200, 1428550936094.gif)

Kotonoha no Niwa

Welcome to the N.H.K.

Oldest Shinkai's movies was better in dramatic part imho.

File: 1445804929629.png (108.79 KB, 200x113, jin_roh_sewer2.jpg)

Fuckin' Jin-Roh.

Got an animebytes link to what you're referring to?

best love story ever told, amirite?

higurashi / texhnolyze tied on first place, one teardrop per franchise.

right after the spectator says good night to the main character, and ED starts playing.

NHK ni youkoso. Multiple times. I have yet to find another anime so relatable.

eva, hoshi no koi , ano hana, deadman wanderland , no game no life ( when i found there wasnt going to be a second season )

bambi was first though ....

oh one more ....

grave of the fireflies

File: 1446513833231.png (212.15 KB, 200x110, cry yotsubato.jpg)

I never cried but my eyes get watery as fuarrrk in any emotional scene in animay.
>angel beats ending
>Tachikoma scene in SAC
>That part with her mother in the last episode of Kotoura-san
>The love story of the baker guy in Chobits
I still haven't watched all of NHK but it only made me mad at his life isntead of sad. Gakkou Gurashi also didn't made me cry but my eyes started getting watery at that OH soykaf moment in the first episode.

File: 1452655348398.png (36.71 KB, 200x175, 1435826169495.jpg)

I think everyone here can agree upon Welcome to the NHK, but I don't think I cried from it if I can recall.

Ping Pong the Animation hit me pretty damn hard. I could understand Wenge's longing to go back to the simpler times and just escape all the pressure of being practically forced to surpass others in terms of your skills. Ryuuichi was quite the character as well. Well shit, nearly everyone was so fleshed out and relatable I couldn't help but cry like a bitch when you were given a chance to really understand how they felt.

I don't know man, I just relate to coming-of-age/seinen/psychological series. I have a horrible case of nostalgia.

Oh yea. Steins;Gate as well. The scene where Okabe was about to save Kurisu in episode 23 and Skyclad Observer was playing in the background. That hit me so fuarrrking hard.

Example? Maybe you should make an anime out of it. And sage, because off-topic.

So much spoiled right there- so much.

ARIA the origination

Not me

You will call me a pleb but i never cried as much in any other anime as i cried in One Piece.

Lain, Grave of the Fireflies, and Sailor Moon

5 Centimeters Per Second

I have a fuarrrked up story to do with it and real life though. I was ridiculously strongly in unrequited love with my best friend while he's the one that introduced it to me saying it made him cry. He also lent the manga to me just before we had a big falling out and I had to give it back and stuff. Situation is ridiculous because it relates to the anime from my point of view

every time...

Zanky┼Ź no Teroru.

Last episode: I cried like a little bitch.

Grave of the Fireflies. I think I have never saw a sadder movie in my life.

Elfen lied

>Grave of the Fireflies.
I'm not a fan of anime not that I dislike it, I just don't watch it , but this is one of the few I've seen. It's really sad.

File: 1455690876591.png (126.83 KB, 131x200, misaki-abe.jpg)

Read the light novel if you want to enter a true despair.

File: 1455692012341.png (349.14 KB, 200x160, Chobits 71.jpg)

First anime I really got into. First "cartoon" to ever make me cry as well. Anyone who's seen it knows the parts im talking about. Especially the last episode. I wasnt quite the same for weeks after watching it.

I think it's interesting NHK made so many people cry. I thought it was more of a comedy.

Then again, I'm in the camp that lost it at the end of K-ON. Madoka also made me cry, but I can't remember why anymore.

Nhk didnt make me cry.

I cried watching madoka
Yuru Yuri S2 last episode
Haibane Remnei
The Planetes episode with the watch.

K-on was very emotional.

That scene was the roughest.

The anime is lighthearted. The novel is not, not at fuarrrking all. Read the novel, it won't make you cry, but it's way more dark.

Especially the part where satuo's neighborhood gives him child porn and he goes on a massive cp download spree.

Also when Yamazaki (his neighbor) makes a bomb and Satuo has to convince him that killing a soykaf ton of people is a bad idea

File: 1456105595264.png (16.78 KB, 200x160, tuts.jpg)

I was surprised with how much this made me cry. Amazing anime.

I have made a grave mistake.

Wolf children Ame and Yuki
Family drama now with 100% more bestiality!

5 cm/s made me really melancholy afterwards thinking about how far back I'd reset trying to fix things, but it didn't make me cry while watching it.

File: 1457450409212.png (717.13 KB, 200x200, Susumu Hirasawa - MILLENNIUM ACTRESS original sound track (2002).jpg)

If you're looking for more lost love tears, Millennium Actress is fantastic.

what the fuck

ok, i have to read it now, that's just too bizarre

File: 1457595932682.png (136.64 KB, 200x167, Grieving_aunt.png)

At least half the episodes in Kaiba made me cry, but especially this one.

File: 1457606712192.png (137.83 KB, 200x150, haibane_renmei.jpg)

Haibane Renmei.

File: 1457638373279-0.png (108.41 KB, 200x113, Byousoku 5 Centimeter.2007.BDRip720p.00:49:25.128.jpg)

File: 1457638373279-1.png (92.49 KB, 200x113, Byousoku 5 Centimeter.2007.BDRip720p.00:47:50.242.jpg)

5 Centimeters per Second almost made me cry. Despite I have never ever had such an experience and, even more, feel like all that romantic stuff is total nonsense. The plot seems to me quite silly, but it made my impressions stronger because of its spontaneity and sincerity, which are unattainable IRL (at least for me).

The worst I've felt after reading a manga was when I was done with Ten - Tenhoudoori no Kaidanji. A really magnificent bud sad conclusion.
Saikyou Densetsu Kurosawa also had a pretty sad ending (though it's less so now since there's a sequel).
Both of these had endings that were sad but uplifting at the same time, which was great.

I found the epilogue episode of Senkou no Night Raid to be really heavy, especially because you have no way of expecting it going by the previous episodes.
The ending of JoJo part 6: Stone Ocean was another really bittersweet finale.

File: 1461342921816.png (128 KB, 200x115, bH5zW99.jpg)

Evangelion gets me every time

i saw it and all i remember is a lonely 20-something dude's wet dream about a girl who's too stupid to tie her shoelaces

those tears aren't even about lost love, just how being alive is bullshit.

Clannad AS brought tears but that's the only anime that has done this. I watched it maybe 4 years ago. I no longer believe in love like I used to when I was 16.

I thought Clannad was just OK, mediocre and nothing else. I only watched a couple of AS episodes and thought it was boring as fuck. In that sense, Clannad > Clannad AS.

Clannad and after story is the most savage thing I've ever seen. Tried to have a friend watch it to understand my pain and all he did was look up google images and make fun of their eyes and how anyone could take these insects seriously

Well, when I watched Clannad AS I was something like 16 years old and had just discovered the whole anime genre and that I liked romance anime. I just feel nostalgic toward Clannad. I rarely get a strong emotional impact from entertainment media anymore.
In AS dramatic scenes start to take action, that's why it was better for me. Death, neglect, hate etc. As a rom/com Clannad may be better.

NGE for me, The End precicely.

I never cry while watching anime, but I came really close to doing so while watching Nagi No Asukara. Don't see it talked about very often.

Other noteworthy mentions: Your Lie in April ( a lot of flaws tho), NHK and Clannad Afterstory

Definitely late to this thread, but Angel Beats was a feel trip towards the end.

The last episode of GITS SAC season 2 was pretty sad. I love the tachikomas.

Zankyou no terror. It was so embarrassing

File: 1471543276649-0.png (542.8 KB, 200x150, HairCut.png)

I remember having cried when Akane lost her hair, she was my first big love after all. Wouldn't call it the saddest animu ever though.

I will say Hotarubi no mori e, its a good movie and the plot is kinda sad.

Saber Marionette J to X When Lime, Cherry and Bloodberry forget everything about Otaru
